For the majority of us, our careers are the culmination of years of hard work. From our school days, we focus on following every path we can to get where we want to be. We revise to get good grades at school. We sweat blood and tears to complete a college course which qualifies us for the career of our dreams. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that a bad boss is often behind a bad fit like this. Even the most passionate individual could lose faith when working under someone they don’t get along with. When we enter the job market, most of us are so excited to get accepted that we don’t even consider where a role is based. What is a commute for your dream career? Adding an extra unpaid two hours to each day can fast lead to dissatisfaction. In extreme cases, that wasted time alone could leave you doubting yourself. Before you give up the ghost, then, try on a closer position for size. You might find the fit is a much snugger one.
